Waking Up the Zombie

Ensō (円相) is a Japanese word meaning "circle" and a concept strongly associated with Zen. Ensō is one of the most common subjects of Japanese calligraphy even though it is a symbol and not a character. It symbolizes the Absolute, enlightenment, strength, elegance, the Universe, and the void; it can also symbolize the Japanese aesthetic itself. As an "expression of the moment" it is often considered a form of minimalist expressionist art.  (source: wiki)

Open Your Hand to Open Your Mind

Choice Awareness Training is designed to leverage a greater sense of freedom-to-change, to awaken the living zombie, to facilitate change-process.

Choice Awareness Exercise: Open Your Hand to Open Your Mind

Clench your fist, open it.

Clench it again, open it again.

Clench it one more time, open it one more time.

See the mindlessness and sameness of the pattern?

Now...

clench your hand and open it with conscious awareness of the options available to you as a daily meditation.   Try it a few times, each time choosing how you open the fist, infusing a dose of mindfulness into the moment.

Practice opening your hand to open your mind to the options available to you in the moment.

Also, if you find yourself tensing up and clenching your fists (say, in perfectionistic frustration), mindfully open your hand to both release the stress and to open your mind.
