« 20 Laps Around "Why Not?" »
Thursday, November 5, 2009 1.
When it was written,
It was instantly forgotten.
That’s the way of water.
It has no memory.
It flows.
Like truth.
It never repeats.
2.
I entrust you right now
To govern yourself exactly to the meaning
That you need to arrive at.
Do you?
3.
I bought a ticket to the Eiffel tower.
But I chickened out.
I did.
I wasn’t afraid of heights.
I was afraid of lows.
4.
Everything ends.
All you love will end.
All who love you will end.
You will end.
Everything and everyone
eventually ends its endless belief
in finality.
5.
In between all these mind-forms,
You still are.
Aren’t you?
Yes.
There’s your evidence.
Essence is endlessness.
6.
If you can be without it,
It’s not you.
Not a feeling.
Not a thought.
Not a sensation.
Not any object, internal or external.
If you can be without it,
You are not it.
7.
A simple gospel tickles the heel of my shoe.
It’s called dance.
A good ol’ rascal sage Gurdjieef taught me this pattern interruption trick:
There is no pattern to break!
None.
8.
Never was, never will be
There is no way to pattern and mold that which is only once.
Get it and get in on with it, soldier of meaning!
9.
In mud we swim, in mud.
In dirt we swim, in dirt.
In form we swim, in form.
Information is pollution.
10.
Unformed, essence is.
11.
Swaying and staggering,
Like you just got off the carousel of ego,
You look back at your life and wonder:
“How could’ve I?
How could’ve I mistaken all that information for what I am?”
12.
Break this unfortunate habit of meaning-making.
Meaning’s not a baby.
It comes to you,
As soon as you have emptied out your brim-full mind of meaning.
13.
Bhoeme first worked on boots.
A bootmaker, he started thinking about what walks.
Became a saint.
14.
You know that feeling of popping the bubble wrap:
Same thing with self-inquiry.
Pop the bubble of your self-importance.
Hear the explosive joy of emptiness.
15.
Leonard Cohen kneels down a lot.
He, who knew arrogance, knows humility.
This is each ego’s arc:
From nothing to something back to nothing.
Pray this curvilinear trend is not a circle.
16.
1, 2, 3, math entrains us.
1, 2, 3 math distracts us from what precedes the zero itself.
17.
On a vacation from self,
You write,
You call.
Why?
18.
Like a rock climber dreaming
That a cliff will turn into the sky,
You climb nothing
Hoping it will become something solid.
19.
Fixed, unfixed, self is.
And isn’t.
A half-moon – regardless of the half it is –
Isn’t the full moon.
The full moon is both full and empty.
Ease your way into this Enso.
20.
Why stop at twenty?
pavel somov, still is.
