« The Algebra of Tat Tvam Asi »
Wednesday, July 27, 2011 Any awareness is self-awareness. To be aware, an entity [a system] has to distinguish Self from Other. Thus, any awareness is other-awareness.
To sum up:
awareness = Self-awareness = Other-awareness.
Now, let us simplify this equation a bit. If you had an equation "x = Sx = Ox," you could drop the "x" altogether, right? Right. And you'd get: "1 = S = O"
Algebraic simplifications aside, here's what we started with:
awareness = Self-awareness = Other-awareness
And, here's what this means:
1 = Self = Other [in the sense that You and I are One and the Same]
This is what I mean by the Algebra of Tat Tvam Asi (which in Sanskrit means "I am You").
Enjoy the Equation of Subject-Object Equality [i.e. the Equation of Nonduality].
